We are pleased to share our feedback following our participation in the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF25), organized by Paradigm Initiative in Lusaka, Zambia, from April 29 to May 1, 2025. This event, articulated around the theme "Promoting digital Ubuntu in technological approaches", was a platform for strategic exchanges and a major source of inspiration for our future actions.

Participation and contributions

Our team has actively taken part in thirteen thematic sessions covering critical issues of the current digital landscape:

  • Data protection in the digital age: Discussions focused on privacy safeguarding mechanisms in an increasingly interconnected environment.

  • Ethical and responsible artificial intelligence: A focus has been placed on the necessary frameworks to ensure that the development of AI aligns with the principles of fairness and non-nuisance.

  • Mental health in the digital space: The exchanges addressed the psychosocial impact of technologies and ways to create healthier digital ecosystems.

  • Digital inclusion of marginalized communities: Strategies to reduce the digital divide and ensure equitable access to tools and opportunities have been explored.

  • Presentation of the TELLA tool: This demonstration highlighted an innovative solution for the secure collection and transmission of data in contexts with limited connectivity.

Development of strategic partnerships

The forum offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen our network and engage in dialogue with international digital rights experts, social innovators and actors of change. These connections open up concrete perspectives for future collaborations aimed at amplifying our common impact in favor of an inclusive digital and respectful of fundamental rights.

A reinforced vision: digital Ubuntu in action

The principle of "digital Ubuntu", at the heart of the debates, has reinforced our conviction that technology must above all be put at the service of people and the community. This experience highlighted that digital inclusion is an essential pillar of building just and resilient societies.
